What I believe

Many people have asked me about my religion. I don't really have one. I have them all. I suppose that if I had to accept a moniker, it would be Mystic. I have studied many religions and found that they are all the same when you get to the center. The heart of the matter is that there is a universal yearning to reunite with the incomprehensible Source of All.

It took me almost two years to get this into writing. I have started over three times. The problem is that there are many ways to approach any subject, especially this one. Consider the Hoover Dam. From one perspective it is primarily a huge wall of concrete, hundreds of feet high, while from the opposite perspective it is no more than a low wall at the end of a lake. Both descriptions are accurate given the differing perspectives. It is especially true when speaking of spiritual matters that perspective is everything. And because of the deep "knowing" that comes from spiritual insight, most people tend to cling to a belief that their own perspective is the only possible or correct one. It is only when you are willing to accept that a different perspective may be just as valid as your traditional beliefs that one begins to see the whole picture. Then you begin to wonder if still other perspectives might add to your understanding.

This is a very condensed synopsis of approximately 30 years of searching out different perspectives. You will likely be surprised that what follows is so short.  I learned that added detail simply painted a picture of one or the other individual perspectives of a particular topic. And that for the sake of completeness, I should discuss how other viewpoints were just as valid, depending upon one's spiritual growth and background. Each paragraph could easily be expanded into a chapter. But this approach was just too cumbersome and required a level of formality that does not come easily to me. So I have attempted to present the core of the matter as I understand it, using archetypes to paint a picture of difficult concepts.

Although there are several different sets of mystical symbols that could have been implemented here, I have chosen to use the Kabbalistic notion of emanation in this discourse. That is, that the incomprehensible essence of The One that is everywhere-and-nowhere reveals itself gradually, by degrees, and that the greater is reflected in the lesser.

I hope this makes sense to someone besides myself. I would appreciate any feedback. Click the links below starting with The One and ending with Creation.
